Mount ShastaThe Crown Jewel of Northern California

Welcome to Mount Shasta

You can see its majestic peak from many miles away, it’s a beautiful beacon for anyone living within 150 miles of it, and it’s how we keep our bearings when traveling through the wilderness.  Or when we’re on I-5.

Mount Shasta is a 14,180-foot high active volcano, with the last significant eruption being around 1786.  It erupts roughly once every 800 years, so we still have about 600 years to go before the next one.

Until that time, you can experience all the adventures to be had here, both seen and unseen.

To get here:

Mount Shasta is on Interstate 5 – 1hr drive from Redding, 4hrs from San Francisco, 1.5 hrs from Medford.  Airport: Weed

Climbing Mount Shasta

It’s an incredible thrill on many people’s bucket list, and for all, it is life changing.  The views from the top are breathtaking, and getting up and down the mountain is a two-day adventure.  Do not attempt to climb the mountain by yourself, as beautiful as it is, underestimating Mount Shasta has claimed at least 50 lives since 1928.

Challenge: 8,000 climbing permits are issued every year – only 50% make it to the top.
